The Ministry of the Interior and Administration has changed the regulation defining the categories of persons authorized to enter the territory of Poland - from September 9, 2021, Ukrainian citizens have the option of crossing the Polish border, regardless of the declared purpose of stay.

Above mentioned Regulation was introduced immediately after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in Poland in order to limit border traffic only to certain categories of foreign nationals. According to the wording in force so far, citizens of Ukraine, in order to be able to cross the border, had to belong to one of the categories indicated in the legal act, e.g. have a relevant work permit or the status of a student in Poland.

The provisions of the Regulation, which limited the entry of Ukrainian citizens to meet specific requirements, also resulted in the fact that family members of Ukrainian citizens had significant problems with obtaining visas at Polish consulates in Ukraine. As a result, a given person, when taking up a job in Poland, especially for a longer period of time, had to take into account the necessity of a longer separation from the family as well. The consuls argued that the refusal to accept visa applications from family members was the inability to enter in accordance with the ordinance of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

We believe that the changes to the regulations facilitating entry to Poland for all Ukrainian citizens will also restore the possibility of submitting visa applications for family members of Ukrainian citizens who take up employment in Poland.
